Burning Moxa Stick

Burning moxa stick is used to boost the immune system, warm the body, and promote blood circulation. Moxibustion is particularly useful for treating pain.

Moxa stick can be used directly or indirectly, depending on the desired effect. Moxibustion works best in conjunction with acupuncture points to enhance and maximize the effects of acupuncture. In this case, a small ball is rolled into a ball, placed on the head of an acupuncture needle and lit. Burn for about 20-30 seconds until it goes out. Repeat this operation for the prescribed number of times.

Moxibustion is yang(represents light, warmth, activity, masculinity, outwardness, and movement ,e.g., sun, fire, day.) and is related to heat. Therefore, we use moxibustion to treat diseases with yang deficiency or yin(embodies qualities associated with darkness, cold, passivity, femininity, inwardness, and stillness ,e.g., moon, water, night.) excess, such as some types of colds or flu, or joint pain caused by cold weather.

Moxibustion is yang, so never use it to relieve heat-based conditions, such as a fever.

But the yang of moxibustion is not its only clinical effect. Inhaling the unique aroma of moxibustion, which most people find delicious, it can also regulate qi and blood, warm the meridians and remove dampness.
