Products Description
Moxa is used to strengthen the immune system, to warm the body and to bring more qi and blood flow to an area. Moxa is especially useful for the treatment of pain.
The specific use of moxibustion depends on the desired effect. Moxibustion is best used in conjunction with acupuncture points to enhance and maximize its effectiveness. To perform moxibustion, roll a small ball into a ball, place it on the tip of an acupuncture needle, and light it. The ball burns for approximately 20-30 seconds until it burns out. Repeat this process for the prescribed number of times.
Moxibustion is yang, corresponding to heat. Therefore, moxibustion is used to relieve physical discomfort caused by yang deficiency or yin excess, such as the discomfort of certain colds or joint pain caused by cold weather.
Because moxibustion is yang, it should never be used to relieve conditions associated with excessive heat, such as fever.
However, mugwort's yang energy (representing brightness, warmth, vitality, virility, extroversion, and movement, like the sun, fire, and daylight) is not its only benefit. Most people find its unique aroma pleasant, and inhaling it helps regulate qi and blood, warm the meridians, and dispel dampness.
